Club Time Trials this Friday, 20 January

Just a reminder, this Friday we will be holding our internal time trials. Coud all swimmers (all ages, incl. open) please be there if at all possible – this is an important milestone in our diary, and gives swimmers and coaches the opportunity to track progress and make plans for the rest of the season. For those with less experience in competitive swimming it’s also a great opportunity to have a go within the safe & supportive environment of the club. Usual time: 7 – 9 pm. Swimming restarts tomorrow, Friday 6 January

Happy New Year! Swimming sessions resume from Friday 6th at the usual times.

UPDATE: Christmas holidays: Pool party Sun 18 Dec; re-start Fri 6 Jan

The last swim of this term will be this coming Sunday 18th December. Re-start will be on Friday 6th January.

Please note the following for Sunday:

UPDATE: 5 – 6pm normal training IS CANCELLED

6 – 7pm End of term Pool Party £2 per swimmer. Wear ‘Christmas theme’ fancy dress, and please bring a friend. There will be an award for the best costume.

Cake Sale: Saturday 3 December – support your club!

We will be hosting a cake sale on Honiton High Street on Saturday morning, to raise funds for the club. Come to Lace Walk, Honiton, set-up 08:45hrs, finish at lunch-time. We shall be setting up a stall and selling as many home-made cakes as we can. May we ask you to support this event in one of two ways:

1. Get baking! Any contribution gratefully recieved, no matter how modest. Please bring any contributions in to the pool on Thursday or Friday this week, or to our stall on the morning of the event. Please put your name on any tins or tupperwares, and we shall make sure they are returned to you.

2. Help needed on the stall on Saturday. If you can spare an hour, please let us know as soon as you can. If we can have swimmers helping, please wear club T-shirt or hoodie if you have one, to help publicise our club.

AGM & Social Evening on Sat 26 November

A reminder that next Saturday 26 Nov, 7pm-9pm is the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Social Evening, to be  held at Gittisham Village Hall EX14 3AU, just outside Honiton. Please make every effort to attend and support this event, it’s going to be a fun evening for everyone. Tickets are available poolside from Sharon (£4 per family, which includes free food such as Stuart’s renowned chili!).

Swimming championships continue today Sunday 13th at 6pm

Please note that, unlike in previous years, the Sunday sessions of the internal club championships start at 6pm not 5pm. The 5-6 training session (for those who normally attend this) remains unaffected.

Unlike previously advised today is the 400m freestyle not IM (which will be on 24 November). For the full club championship schedule please refer to the previous post.

Half-term Break: Last swim session Sunday 23 October

The half-term break is upon us! Therefore, the final swim session will be on Sunday 23rd October. After the break, sessions will resume as normal on Thursday 3rd November (but remember the club championships! See previous message). Have a good break everyone!

Get ready for the Club Championships!

Yes, it’s the time of year again! Our internal club championships will start next week and take place at the following dates. The races will be held during normal training sessions. Please use the attached form to register and return it to Sharon, Ralph, Stuart or Tracey by Friday 4th November.

Thursday 20th October: 1,500m freestyle (12 and over)

Thursday 3rd November: 400 freestyle

Friday 11th November: 50m, 100m and 200m (see form for details)

Sunday 13th November: 50m, 100m and 200m (see form for details)

Friday 18th November: 50m, 100m and 200m (see form for details)

Sunday 20th November: 50m, 100m and 200m (see form for details)

Thursday 24th November: 400 IM

Land training has reverted back to Mondays

We have decided to revert from Tuesday back to Monday 6:30pm for land training. Tuesday turned out to be a very busy time for everyone in the club, and also we found ourselves competing for training space with our football and rugby friends. Thanks to everyone who gave us feedback. Hopefully we will now see you on Mondays.
